Method statement/safety procedure training record
If it’s important that staff follow prescribed methods of work, you should set them out in a method statement or safety procedure. Any training given on these should be recorded in our document.
Steps to follow
If you’re working on a construction site, you won’t get far without a method statement. This is the document that sets out what you’re going to do, how you’re going to do it and when. Your staff must know what’s covered and how they should work. This is where our new Method Statement/Safety Procedure Training Record document should be used.
Note. A safety procedure is similar to a method statement and is the term more commonly used in non-construction environments.
Proof
Apart from ensuring that your staff do what you want them to, in the event of an accident it’s vital to be able to prove that you’ve trained them to work safely - such evidence can prevent enforcement action and minimise any civil claims.
The training record
Our document provides space to list any method statements or safety procedures that cover the jobs completed by your staff. All you need to do is reference the document in the “Method statement/safety procedure covered” column, insert the date on which the training was completed and obtain signatures in the appropriate boxes.
