Food delivery checklist - ready-to-eat foods

If you sell food or provide it as part of a service, you have a legal duty to ensure that it’s safe. One of the actions you can take to fulfil this duty is to check the quality and safety of products you receive from suppliers. Use our form to do this.

How does it work?

As a food business you need to check that any deliveries you receive are safely packaged, not contaminated and, where applicable, at the correct temperature.

The food must be checked - and this check recorded. Use our Food Delivery Checklist - Ready-to-eat Foods to ensure that you’re not accepting unsafe or poor quality food and to produce legally required records of the products you’ve bought. In addition, the records enable you to track trends, e.g. if a supplier’s quality is very unreliable.

Our form is designed so that your staff can easily complete it. This will give them the confidence to reject unsuitable deliveries, knowing that they’ll be backed up. There’s space for management to sign at the end of the week to show they’ve read and checked the information.

As a minimum keep the completed records until the food referred to is no longer in your business.
