Shift working policy
If employees work shifts you should have a policy in place to cover the particular risks and requirements which apply. Use our document to set out your management arrangements and your expectations of employees.
Why you need our document
Shift working presents risks to workers due to the disruption to their sleep patterns and body clock. Some of the health issues associated with this pattern of working include fatigue, insomnia and increased stress. These can ultimately lead to ill health or accidents if not managed well.
Note. Although some staff experience problems with shift work, others adapt well and may even prefer it.
