Manual handling policy
If your staff carry out significant manual handling tasks, use our policy to make your arrangements clear.
What’s covered?
Our Manual Handling Policy sets out the current legal position and then goes on to describe the arrangements you have in place to manage the risks.
There are spaces for you to fill in details of the activities undertaken by staff which have been identified as a manual handling risk. You’re also encouraged to tailor the policy to describe:
- how risk assessments will be undertaken, by whom and where they will be kept
- how staff will be trained in the findings of the assessments and in safe manual handling techniques
- how the risks will be controlled, e.g. by mechanisation and the use of personal protective clothing
- the responsibilities of employees.
