Work at height rescue plan

If staff work at height using a harness or other fall arrest equipment, you need to create a rescue plan to help them back to safety if they fall.

The problem

Although rescue equipment such as a fall arrest harness will prevent staff from falling to the ground, if they’re left suspended, they can suffer from suspension trauma and shock. So to ensure that they’re not left dangling, you need to identify how they’ll be rescued.

Plan and check

By completing our new Work at Height Rescue Plan you’ll identify exactly what to do in the event of someone falling. It will also flag up the equipment that is required and who will take on necessary roles.
