Permit to work - non-energised circuits
When working on an electrical system that should be isolated you need to prevent it from being switched back on. You can do this by following a permit-to-work system.
How to use the form
Our permit to work is split info four parts:
Part A. The first section asks for specific information about the job. This includes the date and time of the job, the exact location of the work, details of any plant/equipment that may be used and the nature of the work/tests that will be completed.
Part B. The second part asks for details of the safety systems that will be employed. These include points of isolation, locks, notices and earthing.
Part C. This section asks for the authorised person to agree that they are satisfied that appropriate precautions will be taken and that the work can commence. The document asks the authorised person to give their phone number and an e-mail address.
Part D. The final part of the document should be completed when the work is finished.
When to use the form
This document should be used whenever significant work is being completed on your electrical system.
