Flow chart - PPE selection

When you buy PPE do you just open up the catalogue and pick what looks right? For many this is pretty much the case. For a legally compliant way to go about it follow the instructions in our flow chart.

Selecting PPE

When you see the range of personal protective equipment (PPE) available, it’s easy to get confused. Whilst you may read the descriptions and discuss your requirements with a salesperson, there’s still a risk of getting it wrong. There’s also the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 to comply with. These set out quite a few steps to take before you buy. To save you from trawling through the requirements, use our Flow Chart - PPE Selection. Adapt this for your own organisation and include it in your safety manual. This will allow managers and staff to quickly grasp what’s expected of them.

How does it work?

The flow chart fills a single side of A4. Tasks are written in rectangular boxes and questions in diamond shaped ones. Wherever there’s a question to answer, arrows lead you to alternative responses depending on whether your answer is “Yes” or “No”.
