Notice - site rules for contractors

If you’re employing contractors, you must make them aware of your site safety rules. You can do this by displaying our easy to understand notice.

Manage the risks

If contractors are engaged to complete a project on your premises, the work must be managed to ensure that staff - yours and the contractors’ - are not put at risk. The necessary steps to achieve this include making sure that your contractors understand your expectations of them. You can do this by defining the site safety rules.

Do’s and don’ts

This is where our Notice - Site Rules for Contractors can be used. It includes 15 rules which should keep your contractors in check. The notice can be displayed or used as a training guide during your site safety induction.

What’s covered?

The rules first state that you expect the contractor’s safe systems of work to be documented and to follow industry standards. The next few entries cover who is visiting your premises and making sure that they are appropriately qualified to complete their job. The document also states that all persons coming on to your site will be inducted. The rules make it clear that contractors are to work in a safe manner, use appropriate work equipment and work in a tidy way. The last rule covers personal protective equipment (PPE). Here we have included images of the PPE that contractors must wear on your site. All you need to do is to tick the appropriate boxes.
