Flow chart - client responsibilities, stage 1: project concept

When organising a project involving a new building or alterations you have certain responsibilities to ensure safety. Follow our flow chart to assist you through the concept stage.

How does it work?

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 include detailed legal requirements for clients of construction works. This can be a minefield if you’re inexperienced in planning a construction project, but you’ll stay on track if you use our Flow Chart - Client Responsibilities, Stage 1: Project Concept. This is the first part of a series of four to take you from the initial health and safety steps through to the very end of your project. For stage one you’ll be starting to shape the project and determine the scope of works.

By using the flow chart you’ll make appointments at the best moment in your planning process, and involve your safety advisor early on when their observations are more likely to be accommodated at low cost.
