This letter may be used in various situations where an employee’s maternity leave has started automatically.

When to use the letter

The employee’s maternity leave may have started automatically because she has already given birth or is absent wholly or partly because of her pregnancy in the four weeks before the baby is due. Send out this letter if any of these scenarios apply.
