Licence to assign
Your landlord’s given you the nod to assign your lease. To ensure that there’s no dispute that their permission has been granted, it’s standard practice for all the parties to enter into a licence to assign at the same time as the lease is assigned.
Advice
All the licence does is to record the landlord’s consent to the assignment taking place and additionally, ensure that the new tenant enters into a direct covenant with the landlord to comply with the terms of the lease.
Costs
If you’ve agreed to pay your landlord’s costs, refer to this in the licence and state the amount.
