Directors play a key role in any company but what are the different types and what are their key responsibilities?
What’s in a name?
The office of director depends on what the individual (or company, in the case of a corporate director) does, not what they are called. However, there are certain recognised categories of director and it is important to be aware of the different types.
Whatever title they go by, all directors are subject to the same duties, even those not officially appointed. Breach of those duties can lead to legal action being taken against the director personally.
